Tim Dartington

After an early career as a journalist and playwright, Tim worked as a social scientist at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relation in the 1970s, on projects to do with children in hospital (with Isabel Menzies) and the dynamics of care around people with disabilities and the elderly (with Eric Miller).   After joining the Centre of Applied Social Research, he was deputy chair of the Social Systems Group (Miller was chair).

He has continued to work with the Tavistock Institute as a group relations consultant and was the Director of the Leicester Conference in 1999 and 2001.    He is a Professional Partner of the Institute.

He is also a visiting tutor at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust and Associate of Tavistock Consulting.

In the 1990s he was Head of Management Development at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.

He has been a Member of OPUS (an Organisation for Promoting Understanding of Society) since 1980 and contributes regularly to the journal, Organisational & Social Dynamics.   (See Publications.)
